1. Start with two cones. Change one cone so it has a base radius of 8mm, a height of 8mm, 64 sides, and is a hole. Change the other cone so that it has a base radius of 7.4mm, a height of 7.4mm, and 64 sides.
2. From Shape Generators → All, scroll through the selection pages until you find the metric gear. Add the metric gear, and change it so it is 30mm wide, 30mm deep, and 5mm tall.
3. Select both the “hole” cone and the metric gear. Use the align tool to align them to their x mid points and their y midpoints. Group the hole cone and metric gear together so there is a cone shaped hole cut from the middle of the metric gear.
4. Select both the gear and the cone. Use the align tool to align them to their x & y mid points. Group them together.
5. Add a cylinder to the workplane. Change it so that it has 64 sides and is 5.5mm wide, 5.5mm deep, and 8mm tall.
6. Select both the gear and the cylinder. Use the align tool to align them to the x & y midpoints. Group them.
7. Add a cone to the workplane. Resize it so that it has 64 sides, and a base radius of 4mm and a height of 8mm.
8. Rotate the cone 180° around the x or y axis.
9. Select the gear assembly and the upside down cone. Align them to their x & y midpoints. Group them.
10. Duplicate the gear assembly. Spin the duplicate 10° around its z-axis. Set the movement snap to 0.5mm. Move the duplicate 27.5mm in the y direction. Group them together.
11. Add a box that is 5.5mm wide, 27.5mm deep and 2.5mm tall.
12. Raise the box 5.5mm above the workplane.
13. Select both the gear group and the box. Using the align tool, align them to their x & y midpoints. Group them together.
14. Add a workplane to the top surface of the box that you just grouped to the gears.
15. Add a paraboloid to the new workplane. Make sure it is set to 24 steps. Resize it to be 5.5mm wide, 27.5mm deep, and 7mm tall.
16. Select both the gear assembly and the paraboloid. Align them to their x & y midpoints. Group them together.
17. Add an identifier like your name or signature. Do not let your identifier interrupt the moving parts of the design.
18. Mark your project as complete in Canvas. If you followed all of these instructions exactly, you will get yours 3D printed. You will lose 5 points to your grade for everything in these instructions you did not follow exactly (This assignment is worth 50 points). You may attempt to fix your mistakes to get yours 3D printed, but I will not take any submissions for printing for this assignment past January 8, 2021.
